Tunde, a Naval Officer based in Jos, was arrested following a complaint filed by his girlfriend alleging impersonation, theft, and fraud. Tunde maintained that the allegations were unfounded, explaining that he had supported the complainant through school and even helped her secure employment. Despite this, he was arrested and remained in detention for over a year while the case lingered unresolved. During this period, the prolonged detention took a heavy toll on his life and career, he was disengaged from his position and left without support to pursue his defence.
His situation began to change when the Rule of Law and Empowerment Initiative (Partners West Africa Nigeria – PWAN) intervened in the case. PWAN provided the necessary legal support and took steps to address his prolonged detention, eventually securing his release on bail.
Following his release, Tunde was able to begin rebuilding his life. Shortly thereafter, he was reinstated to his position and resumed his duties as a Naval Officer in April 2025. What had once appeared to be the collapse of his career gradually shifted toward recovery. Grateful for the intervention that helped restore both his freedom and livelihood, Nasiru later reached out to express his appreciation to the organisation for the role it played in helping him regain stability and return to service.
