FCT COURTS SENTENCING GUIDELINES

The issue of decongestion of our correctional centers has been on the burner in public discourse for a long time now. Many interventions have been made by the government in this regard, however, the focus on litigation and legal representation as a solution has proven ineffective. According to the provisions of Part 44 of the ACJA and S.40 to 44 of the Nigerian Correctional Service Act, alternative methods of decongesting the correctional centers have been proffered including the use of non-custodial sentencing.
