Designations Program Officer

Aisha Datti Ameen is a Program Assistant with Rule of Law and Empowerment Initiative, also known as Partners West Africa Nigeria (PWAN). In this role, she oversees the pro bono cases handled by the organization. She brings her 6 years of expertise and experience in courtroom litigation, mediation, strategic planning and case management.

Aisha has previously worked as a volunteer gender officer and human rights defender and was involved in several Public Interest Litigation matters at the Center for Human Rights and Social Advancement (CEFSAN). Part of her experience involves handling pro bono legal matters relating to marital issues and domestic violence, child abuse and molestation, custody and maintenance of children, and sexual and gender-based violence. She also gained extensive experience in Civil and Commercial Litigation, legal drafting, legal research & problem analysis, and case management while working with a private Law Firm, Monument Attorneys.

She obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree (L.L.B) from the University of Abuja and her Barrister at Law (B.L) Certificate from the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, Abuja. Aisha is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and a member of the ADR/Litigation Committee of the International Federation of Women Lawyers.

Aisha Abubakar is a Program officer at the Rule of Law and Empowerment Initiative, also known as Partners West Africa Nigeria (PWAN)

Until the assumption of her role as a Program officer with PWAN, she was the Managing Partner, at Savvy Legal Consult & Associates, a law firm she founded within 5 years out of her 9 years of post-call experience as a lawyer. She has rendered legal professional services to numerous individuals and top-tier governmental and non-governmental organizations.

A Master Degree holder in Law (LL.M, 2021) from Bayero University, Kano, B.L., Nigeria Law School, 2015, and a law degree from Bayero University, Kano, (LL. B,2014), she is also a fellow, Legislative mentorship Initiative. She has an interest in areas of International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, Legislative drafting, and policy-making, and a keen interest in the development sector.

Nana-Hauwa Isa is a Programs Officer at the Rule of Law and Empowerment Initiative also known as Partners West Africa Nigeria (PWAN). She obtained her Bachelor of Law degree from Bayero University Kano and subsequently pursued her BL at the Nigerian Law School in 2015.

During her national youth service, she served with the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, where she gained valuable experience in criminal litigation and an in-depth understanding of the criminal justice system.

Before her role at PWAN, she partnered with another esteemed lawyer to establish Craft Legal Services, an all-female law firm that provides comprehensive legal services to clients.

She is a proud member of prestigious legal associations, including the Nigerian Bar Association, the International Bar Association, and the Federation of Female Lawyers (FIDA). She is a recipient of the IBA Women’s Forum Conference in Denmark in 2022.

Rebecca Emmanuel Balami is a Program Officer with The Rule of Law and Empowerment Initiative also known as Partners West Africa Nigeria.

She obtained her LLB Degree from the University of Maiduguri, Borno state where she studied from 2010 to 2016. Between 2016-2017 she graduated as Barrister in Law (BL) in the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, Abuja.

She served at Magistrate court Wuse II, Falana and Falana Chamber Abuja, and the Supreme Court of Nigeria as an Intern. She is also a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and Unity Bar.
