Multi- stakeholder Dialogue: Operationalizing Community Policing in the North East

Partners West Africa Nigeria recently concluded a Multi Stakeholder Dialogue on Operationalizing Community Policing in the North East, held in Gombe State.

The dialogue was organized to provide a clear understanding of what community policing is and how it will be implemented in Nigeria as well as carry out inclusive discussions on community policing as it is currently obtainable in the North East, and how it can be structured within the region. Participants from all state police force commands in the North East, Civil Society and Government were also able to develop action plans for the implementation of Community Policing in each state of the North East.

A welcome address was delivered by the current Commissioner of Police Gombe State; CP Shina T. Olukolu. Many thanks to the facilitators; CP Austin Iwar (Immediate Past CP Gombe State), Prof Olu Ogunsakin (Technical Adviser to the IG) and Brigadier General ASH Saad Rtd (Senior Military Adviser, Nigerian Policing Programme) for their informative and engaging sessions.
